About Us
Timeless by design.
Hartwood started with a belief that the right instrument should feel like it's always been yours. Familiar in form. Instinctive in response. Inspired by the golden eras of guitar design and shaped in the UK for today's players, we build instruments for the modern player, with retro roots at heart.

What We Stand For
Timeless Design
Instruments that feel recognisable yet unmistakably their own. Strong forms, balanced proportions and characterful finishes.
Modern Playability
An instrument should respond instinctively. We focus on comfort, balance and control so you can concentrate on the music.
Open to Every Player
Great music is not reserved for a select few. Whether it is your first chord or your fiftieth gig, we strive to inspire confidence and creativity.

Building Something Bigger
Our Process
Listen
We spend time in studios, rehearsal rooms and on stage, paying attention to what musicians actually need. Real-world experience shapes every design decision.
Design
From our studio in York, UK, ideas take shape. Classic influence meets modern ergonomics as we refine silhouettes, neck profiles and control layouts.
Build
Each instrument is assembled with precision and consistency, with careful attention given to setup, finish and overall feel.
Play
The final test is always in the hands. When it feels right, responds instinctively and inspires from the first chord, it is ready for Hartwood.

Details That Matter
We sweat the small stuff. Roasted maple necks for stability and a naturally settled feel. GraphTech nuts for reliable tuning. Locking tuners for precision and consistency. Hardware chosen to balance tone, comfort and durability.
Finishes are selected to evoke a mood as much as a moment. From soft pastels to bold metallics, each colour carries its own personality.
And when you pick up a Hartwood, we want you to feel something. Pride. Excitement. The urge to play for hours. That's what we're building towards, one guitar at a time.
